The currency of higher ed is knowledge - a staggering stream of content that seems to flow without end. Combine this with the fact that we are increasing time-starved and over-tasked and it quickly becomes apparent that there is a knowledge disconnect between our consumers and the currency. One approach to addressing the flood is to create a single unified information source. A single website that centralizes all that is the university and packages it in an user centered environment with award-winning results and real ROI. This is a behind the scenes look at how administrators, designers and developers came together to create Stetson Today with limited resources – the intersection of an intranet, a news & media site and daily life on campus. The poster covers: - why unify - how to manage the design and development process - the need for content strategy - flexible media - device-independent CSS3 media queries - how to test - helpful JavaScript libraries What can you take away from this workshop? A working knowledge of the core techniques used in implementing a centralized site. An understanding of the web design and development process with limited resources. An appreciation for the "Centralized Mindset" as opposed to just tactics and techniques.
